FOMO Chronicles integrated Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) into FOMO Beatz, its new manga NFT P2E game on the Binance Smart Chain. With this utilisation of Chainlink’s Decentralised Oracle Network, FOMO Chronicles can now provide a verifiable source of randomness to prevent bots from cheating. It is simply done by randomising each gameplay! This randomness creates a more transparent, unique and cheat-proof user experience since players will have a randomised gameplay every time they play.
FOMO Chronicles’ Team Explains The Integration
“To keep the game fresh and prevent cheating by randomising playthroughs and beatmaps, we need access to a secure random number generator (RNG) that any user could independently audit,” the team behind FOMO Chronicles explained before moving on to possible vulnerabilities.
“However, RNG solutions for smart contracts require several security considerations to prevent manipulation and ensure system integrity. For instance, RNG solutions derived from blockchain data like block hashes can be exploited by miners/ validators, while off-chain RNG solutions derived from off-chain APIs are opaque and don’t provide users with definitive proof about the integrity of the process,” the team added.
It is for this exact reason the team is utilising Chainlink VRF. Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when a request is made with the Oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate a random number and cryptographic proof.

The FOMO Team has elaborated that “The FOMO Beats smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has valid cryptographic proof, which can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. It provides our users with automated and verifiable assurances directly on-chain that FOMO Beats is provably fair and was not tampered with by the oracle, outside entities, or the FOMO Chronicles team.”
